A Missouri native, Zachary Arand, grew up in Valley Park, outside of St. Louis. He received a Masters of Architecture from University of Kansas and there he participated in an internship in the Philippines, where his mother’s family is from.  There he helped oversee the restoration of the Malate Church located in Manila, Philippines. Through his internship, he was able to assist with the restoration of the exterior stones of the ancient church.  This project paired well with Zachary’s belief that buildings are works of art and that restoration and preservation are essential. After graduation in 2013 Zachary accepted a position with B & A Architecture and there gained hands on project experience working with clients, contractors and consultants.

In his free time, Zachary enjoys spending time with his Great Dane, Freyja, running and playing piano. Welcome Zachary!

Our newest member of the Rosemann team, Marcia Trein hails from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Before pursuing a career in architecture, Marcia received two undergraduate degrees in ceramics and art education. Utilizing her art education, Marcia taught grade school art at an American school in Rio de Janeiro.  In 2007 she decided to work towards her dream of becoming an architect. She enrolled in the undergraduate architecture, urban planning, and interior design program at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Close to the completion of her degree in 2010, Marcia learned that her husband’s company was transferring him to Kansas City. Before she could agree to this new life in Kansas City Marcia had two requests, that she would be able to finish her architecture degree and that her two cats Merlin and Nimue would join them in the States.

A crowd of over 100 family, friends, volunteers and donors gathered in the backyard of 5 year old Erin of Florissant, Missouri.  Erin, who has been battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, is especially fond of the Doc McStuffins character.  With that in mind, Rosemann’s Mike Shea designed a 1-story playhouse with loft space, outdoor deck and slide in-keeping with the theme of the cartoon.  Inside there is room to play, read, and just hang-out with family and friends.  “Make-A-Wish does wonderful, life-affirming work and I am honored to be part of it” said Mike when interviewed by the press.    Congratulations to Mike and all the volunteers, and best wishes to Erin who was so excited when her playhouse was unveiled that she curtsied repeatedly for everyone every time she came down the slide.  It wasn’t the biggest structure Mike has ever designed, but his co-workers in St. Louis report, it was clearly the one he was most passionate about this year.

Chadd Woodall has called Kansas City home for the last 25 years and dreamed of being an architect since he was in high school. But after high school it took Chadd about ten years to make his dreams a reality. In 2004 Chadd decided to enroll at the University of Kansas and completed his degree in Architecture in 2008.

After graduation Chadd accepted a job with ACI-Boland. While working at ACI-Boland he was able to design the food court and circulation areas at Mid-America Heart Institute on the St. Luke’s Plaza campus, a project he was particularly proud of. In 2012 Chadd helped design the striking terracotta façade on the Henry W. Bloch School of Management building on the University of Missouri Kansas City building. The design process for creating the façade was labor intensive, but the end result was worth the time.

Chadd is looking forward to establishing himself here at Rosemann and further developing his career. In his off-time he enjoys spending time with his four year old daughter Scarlett, playing music and attending a wide variety of music concerts here in Kansas City.

Heer’s Luxury Living in Springfield, Missouri had its Grand Opening and ribbon cutting on Tuesday August 11th 2015. Developer, Dalmark Group and general contractor Straub Construction worked with Rosemann to design and construct 80 apartments in the upper floors of the building with two large commercial spaces at street level.

The building’s prominence in southwest Missouri led to the Ribbon Cutting’s wide spread media attention. Opening in 1915, the Heer’s Departments store was Southwest Missouri’s premiere shopping destination for most of the 20th century until the store closed in early 1995. After recounting her memories of visiting the Heer’s Department Store as a child, Springfield Director of Planning and Development Mary Lilly Smith stated “What was once known as the dominant store of the Ozark’s empire became a symbol of deterioration and the demise of downtown.”
