MONTGOMERY, AL – Rosemann & Associates, P.C. announces the 2 ½ year renovation debut of The Bell Lofts, marking downtown Montgomery’s newest luxury high-rise lofts.
The historic 12-story Bell Building was built at the corner of Montgomery and Lee Streets in 1907 by local businessman, Newton J. Bell. At 187 feet, it was once the tallest building in Montgomery where it housed some of the most lavish office spaces. In 1981 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places but sat underutilized for years.

In 2014 the Bell Building was purchased by Roos Enterprises, Inc., and with renovations now complete, the structure celebrates new life, balancing its historic Sullivanesque architectural design elements of the late 19th and early 20th Century American Movement with today’s vibrant urban lifestyle.
Rosemann was selected to lead the design makeover of this historical landmark conversion into 88 loft-style, one- and two-bedroom, upscale, market-rate apartment residences, emphasizing amazing sky-line views, space for 4,000 square feet of retail/restaurant space and easy walking proximity to Downtown Montgomery’s active nightlife.

“Rosemann’s design team wanted to maintain the original character through the preservation of the interior marble corridor walls, large windows, and historic office features such as vintage water fountains and lobby mail chutes. We also wanted to highlight modern design features, such as luxury furniture and finishes in the amenity areas,” said Benjamin Mahala, Rosemann’s Atlanta Studio Director.

Funding for the renovation of Bell Lofts is the result of historic tax credits and a federal construction loan.
