On January 30th, Kathy Sorkin, Vice-President of Rosemann & Associates, P.C. (pictured 5th from right) joined constituents from over 20-member organizations of Missouri Workforce Housing Association (MOWHA) at the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City, Missouri, where MOWHA hosted their Lobby Day.
Over 50 meetings with leaders in the Senate and House, as well as with members’ own personal representatives were held throughout the day. The primary focus of the discussions was to encourage state legislators to support the restoration of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program.
MOWHA’s Executive Director Jeff Smith and Project Coordinator Kelly Brown led the group, which included developers, general contractors, architects, property managers, non-profit organizations, and sub-contractors. “It is now more important than ever to make sure that state legislators hear our concerns. Attendance was great and both legislators and their staff were very receptive to our cause,” said Jeff Smith, MOWHA’s Executive Director.
The LIHTC program, administered by the Missouri Housing Development Commission, has been a critical tool in providing financing for the development of new and renovated affordable housing for seniors, individuals with special needs and disabilities, and working families throughout the State.
