This much anticipated development will transform an underutilized neighborhood in North St Louis City into 40 single family homes. The project includes twenty-six (26) 3-bedrooms at approximately 1,200 square feet, thirteen (13) 4-bedrooms at approximately 1,400 square feet, and 1 (1) 1- bedroom home. Following the MHDC mandatory lease compliance period of 15 years, the homes will be sold to existing residents for purchase within affordable housing sale guidelines.
The two-story homes feature design detailing highlighting the history of the neighborhood. Residents will enjoy a spacious community/neighborhood home for support and enrichment activities, youth groups, social gatherings, and more. The goal to create a community of activities and action, where neighbors work together, is one that State Senator Jamilah Nasheed cited as critical to the success of all north city residents.
Yaphett El-Amin of Efficacy Consulting, LLC, Co-Developer, summed up the aspirations of Finney Place Homes. “While affordable housing for residents of the City of St. Louis is vital, we are excited to bring stability and hope to these families, as well as to provide a special community for them to call home.”
Funding for this much needed project is being made possible through a collaboration between state and federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), Missouri Housing Development Commission (MHDC), Missouri Housing Equity Group (MHEG), Affordable Housing Commission (AHC), Community Development Agency (CDA), along with several enriched services providers including Enterprise Bank, Ranken Technical College, SLATE, and Urban League of Greater St. Louis.
