With its recent groundbreaking, Phase III of St. Michael’s Veterans Center reinforces its commitment to helping homeless U.S. military veterans reintegrate healthily into their community. This remarkable three-phase complex is designed to empower veterans through sustained, permanent housing and comprehensive supportive services, transforming lives and fostering a thriving community
A Home for Veterans
At St. Michael’s Veterans Center, veterans discover a dignified home. Unlike traditional shelters, SMVC provides residents with extensive social services, wellness programs, and employment assistance. The apartments are affordable yet feature high-quality amenities, creating a comfortable living space for veterans.
Phase III: A New Chapter
The newest Phase III awarded credits by the Missouri Housing Development Commission (MHDC) adds one four-story building with 62 more units ranging from 580 to 835 square feet. This 55,000 SF expansion is a significant milestone in St. Michael’s Veterans Center’s mission, enabling more veterans to benefit from its comprehensive services and supportive environment. The complex is designed to be both affordable and well-equipped, offering a range of amenities.
The Welcome Center and Service Building Office deliver the following services:
- Job training
- Individual and family counseling
- Addiction rehabilitation
- Spaces for caseworkers to provide personalized support
Beyond essential services, St. Michael’s Veterans Center includes additional amenities designed to foster a sense of belonging and honor the service of its residents. These amenities include:
- A library and computer room for education and leisure
- Fitness facilities to promote physical wellness
- Community and gathering areas for social interaction
- Laundry facilities and mail stations for convenience
- Administrative office spaces for seamless service provision
- A multi-purpose rooms for communal dining and events
- Pickleball court
- Central parade ground for ceremonies and events
