Village on Main
Longmont, COThe Village on Main Apartments stands as a testament to both preservation and progress. This ambitious project, spearheaded by the Longmont Housing Authority, is breathing new life into a beloved community landmark while providing much-needed housing for seniors aged 62 and older.
Originally constructed in 1991, The Village on Main Apartments is transforming, evolving from its original form into a modern, senior-friendly residence. With a single building spanning three stories, this renovation project encompasses 72 apartments tailored to meet the unique needs of its senior residents.
Rosemann & Associates, P.C. prioritized community engagement in their renovation process by hosting design charrettes where residents shared their insights and preferences. This collaborative approach ensured that the renovation addressed the specific desires of the community, fostering a sense of ownership and empowerment among within the community.
One of the most distinctive features of the original structure, the lushly planted entry atrium, was a cherished element for residents. In response to their feedback, the renovation plans not only preserved this green oasis but also integrated it more seamlessly into the living spaces. An accessible ramp was added, enhancing mobility for all residents, while portions of the library and lounge were redesigned to overlook the atrium, capitalizing on its unique charm.
Beyond its commitment to community engagement, The Village on Main Apartments sets a new standard for sustainable, senior-focused housing. From the outset, the project embraced environmentally conscious practices, earning recognition from Enterprise Green Communities. Solar PV panels will adorn the rooftop, harnessing renewable energy to power the building’s common areas. Additionally, energy-efficient Pella windows and high-efficiency hydronic water heating systems contribute to reduced environmental impact and lower utility costs for residents.
The Village on Main Apartments is more than a renovation; it symbolizes community spirit and collaborative strength. Through prioritizing resident input and embracing sustainable design, it’s reshaping senior living on Longmont’s Main Street. As construction advances, the unveiling will showcase a blend of history and innovation, offering residents and their families a place to thrive.
