Blenheim Senior Living Apartments Wins Excellence Award in Neighborhood Stabilization Category!

Rosemann & Associates, P.C., a leader in historic preservation, has won the Excellence Award for the Neighborhood Stabilization Category, as presented by Historic Kansas City, at their awards ceremony held on March 27th at the Plexpod Westport Commons (pictured from left to right, Jason Swords, Sunflower Development Group; Scott Rosemann, Rosemann & Associates, P.C.; Dan Meyer, Rau Construction; A.J. Dolph, Rosemann & Associates, P.C.; Alison Meyer, Rau Construction and Jim Wanser, Historic Kansas City).

Historic Kansas City honored Rosemann with the Excellence Award for its outstanding contributions in the field of historic preservation of Blenheim Elementary School (pictured below), located at 2411 E. 70th Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64132.

Rosemann’s A.J. Dolph was a part of Blenheim’s entire revitalization process from taking field measurements of the blighted structure, to working through the code analysis of an existing building that switched use groups, along with working within the constraints of the building and saving the historic integrity. A.J. said, “Even with unforeseen conditions, the incredible team of professionals, including Sunflower Development Group, Rau Construction Company, Rosin Preservation, Rosemann & Associates, P.C., BC Engineers, Inc., Hoss & Brown Engineers, Inc., Shaw Electric Company, and Taliaferro & Brown, Inc., successfully turned the blighted historical structure into Blenheim Senior Living Apartments, a beautiful affordable housing community of 52 charming studio, 1 and 2- bedroom units for seniors (55+).”

Also commenting on the award, COO Scott Rosemann said, “It is a great honor to receive this recognition and we are pleased that the revitalization of this historical structure will have such a positive impact on the community. It is a true testament to the commitment of the entire project team.“

Congratulations to A.J. Dolph, Scott Rosemann and the entire team at Rosemann’s Kansas City Office on receiving the Excellence Award!

Rosemann & Associates, P.C. Receives Recognition for Tiny House Project

Rosemann & Associates, P.C., St. Louis  is the recipient of a beautiful plaque in recognition of its generous support of the 2017-2018 Tiny House Project of Transitional Housing for the Homeless. On March 25th, Ms. Dianne Marshak, Director of the project under Social Justice 4 All (SJ4A), along with North Grand Neighborhood Services (NGNS), presented the plaque to Rosemann’s Vice President Jarrett Cooper (pictured above left) and Project Manager Ryan Montana (pictured above right).

In Spring 2018, SJ4A and NGNS partnered with Rockwood School District in St. Louis, Missouri to debut “Geometry in Construction” course in which Freshman and Sophomore students applied their newly acquired geometry skills to bring the 26 x 14-foot tiny houses to life.

Bommarito Construction volunteered Earthworks Services to prep the site with coordinated efforts from (Civil) Grimes Consulting, Inc. and Rosemann & Associates, P.C.

Horner & Shifrin, HWP Rigging and Rosemann & Associates, P.C. coordinated the safe transportation of the Tiny Home structures to their final destination at vacant spaces at 2411 Fall Avenue in the JeffVanderLous neighborhood, St. Louis, Missouri.

Congratulations to Jarrett Cooper, Ryan Montana, Daniel Tynes and the entire team at Rosemann & Associates, P.C. St. Louis!

Dressed for Success!

On February 28th, Rosemann Kansas City colleagues, Michael Gaillard (pictured above) and Erin Morris (pictured below) volunteered at Guadalupe Centers High School. The local charter school partnered with non-profit Prep KC to host a career day for the freshman class.

The objective was to give students a glimpse at a diverse range of potential career paths and to engage with professionals in those careers. Michael and Erin were provided a platform to answer students’ questions, exchange ideas, and share experiences about their careers in architecture.

Many of the students attending Guadalupe Centers High School will be the first in their families to apply for and to attend college. This exposure to a wide variety of professions is critical to their future. Career Day helped them to envision what success would look like, as well as the relevance of rigorous academic preparation in high school! Thank you GCHS and Prep KC for inviting Rosemann to participate!

Welcome to Blenheim Senior Living Apartments – Affordable Housing!

On February 13th, Jason Swords, Principal of Sunflower Development Group (pictured below), invited the community and those involved in Blenheim Elementary School’s revitalization to celebrate the building’s new lease on life. Rosemann’s Edward English, AJ Dolph, Daniel Nagati and Scott Rosemann attended the Grand Opening.

The historic Blenheim School at 2411 E. 70th Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64132 was built between 1924 and 1930 and provided cutting-edge educational facilities to the surrounding neighborhood. Following its closure in 2009, the structure experienced flooding, fire and vandalism.

Blenheim’s recent rehabilitation was made possible by an outstanding team of professionals including Sunflower Development Group, Rau Construction Company, Rosemann & Associates, P.C., BC Engineers, Hoss & Brown Engineers, Shaw Electric Company, Taliaferro & Brown Inc, and Rosin Preservation. The team’s work returned the shuttered building to life, restoring the façade and the auditorium and incorporating unique historic features into an affordable housing community of 52 studio, 1 and 2-bedroom apartments for seniors (55+).

Amenities include a fitness room, laundry facilities, business center, community meeting space with kitchen, and movie theater. After nearly a decade of blight, Blenheim School Apartments is once again an asset to the surrounding neighborhood.

Congratulations to Rosemann’s Kansas City office on the completion of another amazing senior living project!

Rosemann Supports Green Building

Rosemann was a lead sponsor in this year’s 2019 USGBC State of the Chapter & Social Kick Off. On January 24, 2019, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) – Missouri Gateway Chapter members, Board of Directors, Committee members and guests gathered at a fun kick-off party at the Missouri History Museum to celebrate USGBC’s accomplishments of 2018, as well as to plan their activities for 2019.

USGBC Missouri Gateway Chapter’s aim is to support transformation of the built environment with a strong organization that excels in member services and engagement, education, advocacy and marketing around green building practices and principles.

Highlights of the evening included a silent auction. Rosemann staff, including Nancy Rodney, John Williams, Erin Wright and Kathy Sorkin attended the event. Nancy, a former President of the chapter said, “We are very happy that Rosemann was able to serve as a sponsor and support the great work of this organization. This event highlights the contributions of our volunteers. We will continue to be engaged and benefit from our membership in the U.S. Green Building Council – Missouri Gateway Chapter.”

MOWHA Lobby Day at State Capitol a Success

On January 30th, Kathy Sorkin, Vice-President of Rosemann & Associates, P.C. (pictured 5th  from right) joined constituents from over 20-member organizations of Missouri Workforce Housing Association (MOWHA) at the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City, Missouri, where MOWHA hosted their Lobby Day.

Over 50 meetings with leaders in the Senate and House, as well as with members’ own personal representatives were held throughout the day. The primary focus of the discussions was to encourage state legislators to support the restoration of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program.

MOWHA’s Executive Director Jeff Smith and Project Coordinator Kelly Brown led the group, which included developers, general contractors, architects, property managers, non-profit organizations, and sub-contractors. “It is now more important than ever to make sure that state legislators hear our concerns. Attendance was great and both legislators and their staff were very receptive to our cause,” said Jeff Smith, MOWHA’s Executive Director.

The LIHTC program, administered by the Missouri Housing Development Commission, has been a critical tool in providing financing for the development of new and renovated affordable housing for seniors, individuals with special needs and disabilities, and working families throughout the State.
